#31DC2014 Days 8 - 11

Once again playing catch-up! But we've had a pretty busy week! Brock's birthday was yesterday, so I took the evening off to spend time with him :) But, let's proceed with the nail art!!

Day 8: Metallic

I used all Sally Hansen Color Foil nail polish for this look. I called this look a blobbicure courtesy of My Simple Little Pleasures :) This is actually one of my least favorite looks, but it happened to be one of my most favorited post on Instagram.

Sally Hansen Color Foils: Minted Metal, Purple Alloy, Sterling Silver, Rose Copper

MINI REVIEW: These are supposed to be like the OPIxGwen Stefani Push and Shove chrome polish. While the label does clearly state "nail makeup," it does seem to stay on longer than Push and Shove. It may depend on the thickness of application though; the blobbicure is still going strong on my right hand.

Day 9: Rainbow

I have been trying to do this TV test screen look for months, ever since I bought this Salon Perfect topcoat (the black and white polish.) I took this day's theme as an opportunity to actually do it! It came out looking really great!! Salon Perfect even liked the photo I posted on Instgram! Sooo cool!!

Salon Perfect Touchy Feely, Sally Hansen White On, Wet n Wild Get Lucky, Essie I'm Addicted, Claire's Lime Yours, Cosmetic Arts Hot Pink (?), Essie E-nuf is E-nuf, L'oreal Fluo Azur

Day 10: Gradient

Apparently, I was still on a rainbow kick when I did this look...Actually my original plan was a hologram gradient look, but the colors I wanted to use didn't exactly pan out. Thus, this pretty plain jane ombre look, with borrowed colors from the day before. Still a nice color combo, I think.

Day 11: Polka Dots

This is actually today's look. I was inspired by MissJenFabulous' nail art for beginners tutorials for this one, my look is just slightly different. The colors, I found, look better in the bottle together than actually on my nails...haha. However, after looking at it throughout the day, I realized that it looked like a beer maiden's dress, so I went with it. ;) Also, special shout-out to Essie Ruffles & Feathers for staining my nails the most stubborn blue color. Awesome -.- Sounds like a job for my mini mani kit!

#31DC2014 Weekend Roundup

I am choosing the fact that it is the first weekend of NFL season to catch up on the nail blog. Brock is watching the noon games on his new 50" birthday present, so he is content for now. (Actually, as I am typing this I hear the mixer on in the kitchen. I'm a little frightened now. haha.)  I wanted to post my Saturday and Sunday nails on one "weekend update" post.

The first is the Violet theme for Saturday. I didn't really know where exactly to take it, so I went in a super girly princessy direction. I made a v-shape manicure and adorned it with rhinestones and glitter polish. The pink and purple confetti glitter is JulieG Trinket and the gold is OPI Goldeneye (my go-to gold glitter). The background is Sinful Colors Rain Song and the V is OPI Grape...Set...Match. The whole look came out looking like a regal purple tiara!

Now for today's look: Optical Illusion Nails. Today's prompt is actually Black and White. So I wanted to do something completely unique with the two main staple colors of nail art. I threw in OPI French Quarter for Your Thoughts and created 3D nails! The black and white are my good ol' LA Colors Art Deco polishes. :)

#31DC2014 Day 5: Blue

This day by far is my most favorite look so far! Today I have decided to paint the Blue Meanies! They are the villains from the Beatles' movie The Yellow Submarine. They hate music and all things happy, until the Beatles come to win them over and save the day. The Chief Meanie even sprouts flowers thanks to the Nowhere Man. They also have a sidekick named "Glovie" who is painted on my thumb. I really love this movie as a whole, I highly recommend it!! This was the whole inspiration for today's look.

#31DC2014 Day 4: Green

Day Four of the challenge is the color green. I thought a little inside the box and decided to do a tree nailart. However, I needed to add a little spin to it, so I made it a dotticure. I have sooo much green polish, so I added a touch of every shade I could. I even added some textured polish from Zoya and Finger Paints.
This is probably one of the more boring looks in my opinion, but I like the way the different colors give the leaves some dimension.

This is the first stage of the look; bare branches.

#31DC2014 Day 2 and 3

Turns out, it is harder to keep up with blog posts than it is to just post on instagram! haha. Today i play catch-up!

So for Day 2, I literally made Orange nails. I used Sally Hansen Breezy Blue and Zoya Alma as a background. Then I hand painted my orange slices with Zoya Amy and OPI Cant Afjord Not To. I thought it would be a nice touch to add some teardrop rhinestones in a red-orange shade to look like some juice squirt effects.

Nail polish colors I used:

Day 3 is Yellow!! I didn't want to go for the dandelion/bumblebee look, so I thought about doing something more abstract.

I saw a YouTube tutorial by My Simple Little Pleasures and I knew that this had to be what I did on this day. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLA5whm5ayE&list=UUl6OwCbW6bdtZ14hoxJrgwg)

#31DC2014 Day 1: Red Nails

Well, today is the big day! The kickoff of the 31 Day Challenge! Today's theme was the color red. Red is such a classic nail color, so I wanted my nailart to be classic, yet bold and somewhat edgy. So I went with a classic stiletto style nail. I used OPI's Coca-Cola Red and OPI's Today I Accomplished Zero. I have acquired a number of classic reds over the past few years, but i felt like these two would suit the tone of what I was going for. I also really love the look of the subtle red shimmer Today I Accomplished Zero gives the middle section. It is a nice surprise pop of color! I also added some studs just to add a bit of edge to the look. I've never really been that great at taped manis, but i really like the way these bad boys turned out!!
